Norbreck sired British Blues at the top of the Blue Genes sale 

Norbreck Genetics were certainly to the fore at the Blue Genes sale at Shrewsbury Livestock Market on Saturday (7thMarch).

Taking the overall championship was IZ Nigel from the IZ Blues team of Mark, Sian and Izzy Williams, Llangain, Carmarthen. This January 2018-born ET bull is by Manchester Du Bois Remont out of Bluestar Isabelle ET and went on to sell for 3600gns.

Topping trade was another by a Norbreck owned sire, this time Maes Ned ET, a Dafydd D’Ochain son from IP Jones, Llanfihangel, which sold for 4700gns.

Next up was a Tenace De La Praule son in the form of Hawthorn Blues Ninjago from Simon Hughes, Llanwyddelan, selling for 3600gns. Tenace is also available from Norbreck Genetics and is proving to be popular for producing quality progeny.

Meanwhile in the female section, second top price of the day went to Rhys Millichap of Rhymil Blues with Astrics Nia, selling for 4200gns. This one is by Astrics JJ and was bought privately at the foot of her mother.

Back in action again was IZ Blues with two young ET-bred Farouk De St Amand heifers born June 2019. The first, IZ O’Wow, made 3000gns, while the second, IZ O’Lovely, sold for 2200gns.

Of the embryos on offer, three embryos by Heatherview Jack sold for 420gns, a sire available from Norbreck, while, Daffyd D O’Chain semen sold for 130gns a straw and Empire D O’Chain hit 130gns.

The sale also played host to a small offering of commercial show potential stock with a Limousin cross steer by Tomschoice Lexicon from T and N W Roberts, Llanrwst, selling to 1200gns. Lexicon is an easy calving sire producing great show calves with good growth and easy fleshing.
