This month sees the arrival of five British Blue bulls to the Semex Bull Stud in Hungary, representing a significant achievement for UK genetics.
The bulls, which have been supplied by genetics company, Norbreck Genetics, have been selected for use in Hungary due to their desirable white colouring, suited for the dairy sector and their easy calving attributes and high growth rates for their progeny.
Included in the shipment which took place at the end of November, is Black N Blue Monster Munch. By Jiosco De Focant, he’s out of the Label De Spy daughter, Black N Blue Empress, herself a daughter of the successful show cow Black N Blue Uk.com.
Joining him is Littlebank Mario. By the noted sire Agile de la Praule and out of the Heros Du Peroy daughter, Littlebank Gorgeous.
Then two bulls from the Springfield herd were also included in the export deal, including the Lawns Dominic son, Springfield Norris, who is out of the Harpon De L’Orgelot daughter, Springfield Honey. Meanwhile the other from this herd is Springfield Oscar, a son of popular sire Tamhorn Sumo out of Springfield Laura, a Lawns Dominic daughter.
Completing the load out to Hungary was Redmires Orion, a Pivert Des Alleines son out of Redmires Libra.
Commenting on the export sale, Norbreck Genetics director, Philip Halhead said: This export represents more than 30 years of hard work and passion for the British Blue breed. The international recognition that the breed now has for crossing onto dairy cows is hugely significant.
“This growth potential is something we intend to harness and develop over the years to come, allowing farmers globally to benefit from the sustainability and efficiency the British Blue breed has to offer.”
Semen from all five of these bulls is still available to purchase in the UK via the Norbreck team.
